Contract categories excluded from FTE totals

Understand how contract category normalization affects FTE totals.

Written by Reflect Team

A contract category can be excluded from Reflect’s full-time equivalent (FTE) totals. This depends on how the category is normalized.

How does this affect the figures?

Contracts whose category is set to False in “Is in FTE?” do not contribute to either total FTE at the end of the period or average total FTE over the period. With True, they can contribute if the indicators’ other conditions are met.

If this normalization is blank, the category is included by default. This rule concerns FTE totals: it does not remove the contract from the data.

Check a category

In Data Management → Data normalization, select Contract category and check the Is in FTE? column for the relevant values. To change them, you must be an Admin or have Editor access to the relevant sources.

Indicators reflect changes after the next data update. For detailed steps, see Data Normalization. To distinguish the two totals, see end-of-period and average FTE.
