Seniority milestones indicate whether an employee is in their first six months or first year. Reflect calculates them from the employee’s original arrival date, even when contracts follow one another.
How milestones affect your results
The First-six-months employee ratio and First-year employee ratio use these milestones to identify the relevant employees at the end of the selected period. Non-conversion rates also use these milestones. For the selected period, they show the share of departures during the first six months or first year, depending on the rate, among those departures and employees who reach the corresponding milestone without leaving that day.
The day an employee reaches six months or one year is included in the corresponding period. They leave that period the following day.
Example
An employee with an original arrival date of January 1, 2025 changes contract on April 1, 2025. If the contracts are back-to-back, the reference date remains January 1: the six-month milestone falls on July 1, 2025 and the one-year milestone on January 1, 2026. The employee is still in their first year on January 1, 2026, and is no longer in it the following day.
Check a result
If a figure looks unexpected, check the employee’s original arrival date, the period end date and the filters applied. The original arrival date depends on the data received from your HR software and can be a seniority date before the current contract.
Each indicator also has its own conditions. For example, Converted first-year count counts employees in the headcount who reach one year during the period without leaving that day.
